Mario Carretero is Professor at Autonoma University of Madrid, where he was Dean of the Faculty of Psychology, and Researcher of FLACSO (Argentina), where he coordinates the Master Program on “Cognitive Psychology and Learning” . He obtained his PhD at Cumplutense University, Madrid, and he did postdoctoral research at Teachers College of Columbia University and LRDC of Pittsburgh.
 
He has carried out an extensive research about cognitive processes, learning and conceptual change of school contents, specially about those related to social sciences and history and also to natural sciences. That research has been funded by agencies from Spain, Argentina, European Union and USA.
 
He has published numerous books and papers. His last book, “Documents of identity. The construction of historical memory in a global world” is being translated into portuguese and english.
